I expect to see people trading gw2 money for gw1 money, with gw2 currency being worth more.

Prophecies paid for factions paid for nightfall paid for eye of the north made down payment on gw2 to line with potential investors and for people to buy there stock. The majority of the money they get comes from new games they release for $70+, they do collect money off previous old releases but the trilogy selling for $20+ now is only a fraction of $210+ they made on the games initial release.

I remember someone linking this interview in another thread but then someone else said they changed their mind in the meantime and linked something newer...but I really really can't remember where it was.

That someone else may have been me. People keep digging up that quote by Jeff Strain in '07, but there was a developer update in '08 that tells us the HoM may be updated anytime after GW2 is released.

I see, but still it doesn't mention the fact that people can buy GW1 after GW2's release and still have access to the HoM *shrug*

After 5 years of uncertinty about this game i was reluctant to fill my HoM with my items i rather like unded or uncustomized because they bounce between characters of mine and i swear if areanet doesnt give us a minimum of 6 months to fill HoM after the guide is given outfor rewards hell will be raised
why doesnt anet just make HoM that can have stuff added to accesible to only players with accounts as of say the day gw2 beta comes out?

you have had 3 years to fill you HoM. you had over a year knowing that it will be account wide. Honestly HoM is probably the lowest priority compare to most of the game content. Just them speaking about releasing what it does hint that game is coming soon. Close beta probably just months away.
Grasshopper and the ant, you knew winter was coming.

There is no deadline to fill your Hall if you already have EotN now. We've been told it may be updated even after GW2 is out.

well shadowmoon if you played for at least 4 years youd have known anet doesnt always deliver i didnt want to put all my items into the hall, and i just mean the weapon monument and the mini monument, i dont know what to expect from areanet and personally i hate when minis say dedicated so i kept my more expensive ones unded when areanet tells me the actual list of what you can get then ill ded or customize them untill then i will sit on the sidelines waiting just because youve thrown caution to the wind itll be your fault if its a fail

IN this case I hope account wide will mean not a total but unique for the account. So it's no use to dedicate all mini's, and collect all weapons on all your chars.

i had concerns like others at first if my work towards my HoM stuff would be worth it and I decided to suck it up and just do it. Even if it wasn't what i deemed worth it, it was worth it to me for just gw1. once we start playing gw2, it will be such a secondary and even tertiary thing i believe. people are all about NOW though as opposed to having any foresight on what is coming. i still hope that there are cool armor sets i can get though. nothing would be a cooler cosmetic item than an outfit that i earned with a full hall.

Then why do you need 6 months to put up weapons and minis you already have. Do you think if the rewards are worth anything the prices of such thing will go down after the announcement? It should only take you a day to customize and dedicate what you have.

Eh, they've already said (like, back in 2009) that the policy had changed, and that anyone who makes a GW1 account and gets a HoM will get rewards in GW2. No, I'm not digging up the damn quote.
And, good. Why shouldn't they?

If that was said I'm sure it'd be stated on the GW2wiki instead of:
"New players to Guild Wars 2 will not be able to return to the original series and earn achievements for their Hall of Monuments.[5] The privilege is exclusively restricted to current players. "
That's just my view. I know it's a wiki, but GW2wiki is pretty reliable...

I KNEW it was going to happen like this! I am actually quite excited for this. And the quoted statement above makes me even more excited. To know I put trivial stuff in my HoM, a few 15k sets and your basic campaign finishing statues, I didn't have to grind the hell out of GW1 at all for some simple reward in GW2. I really just want a title for my GW2 guys that shows I at least beat GW1.

that is basically only 2 monuments that you are speaking about. the minis and the weapons...you can fill the others without doing either dedicating or customizing (and if you have tons of white first year minis they are worth about the same dedicate or undedicated at this point)....so you can put your armors in as well as the heroes not to mention getting the titles and then just hold off on the weapons and minis (though you should have a bunch of these critters already ......).....so not a big deal.
AND
I am sure they will give sometime after you find out what the 'big reward' is for filling this out.

Remember, it says a full HoM isn't required to receive rewards, not a full HoM isn't required to receive full rewards.
If they're starting to talk about it now, I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to work on it before GW2. Still, there are certain things you can do without knowing. Heroes and pets is an easy shrine, for example, and Honor should be "full" from just playing the game. You can collect the minis but not dedicate them, same for Destroyer/Torm weapons, and armor is something you'd want anyway.
I don't really see the problem.
